Well, it has been over a month since my family was ripped apart and my children were "legally kidnapped" from my husband and I.
Here is a little bit about why our organization has been formed. We are a group of like-minded parents seeking reform within Alabama's Department of Human Resources. We have mountains of evidence showing abuse and neglect in the hands of foster parents after children have been ripped away from loving, attentive, caring parents. These children have been taken away based on allegations and heresay with absolutely no regard for the childrens' well being. What is worse is that DHR seems to be above the law. Judges, attorneys, police officers, and other government officials NEVER take circumstances into consideration; DHR is ALWAYS right in the eyes of the justice system. Where is the justice in that? Please aide in our cause to STOP this abuse that is being inflicted on our children. 1 month ago my children were ripped away from my husband and I because my ex decided he wanted my oldest son to live with him. He called DHR and made allegations of drug use in my home. Due to the ASFA act, DHR was able to take my 5 sons with absolutely no investigation or proof of the heresay. My oldest 3 were sent to their dads' and my 2 babies were separated into 2 foster homes. My husband and I both passed drug screens, but that did not matter. Once they are in the system, it takes time and money, a lot of it, to get my boys back. It took 3 weeks of begging, and finally demanding, to even get a visit with my 2 babies. When we got to the department for the visit, my 12 week old son arrived first with his foster mother. As we chitchatted, she openly admitted to me that she had been administering him with MORPHINE because he was fussy and would not sleep. I asked where the morphine came from and she let me know that it was left over from a Meth addicted baby that she fostered before. I reported this to the caseworker, who allowed the woman to take my child home, was aware that she was in trouble, and still left him in her care for another 10 hours!!! When we saw our 15 month old at the visit, our worst nightmare was reality. His hair was matted to his head, his finger and toenails were long and dirty, he smelled of a dumpster, and his clothes were a size 6 months. We removed his diaper to find grapefruit size welps on his rear end that were rapidly growing over his entire body. PLEASE SEE THE PHOTOS BELOW. The smell was coming from his genitals and he appeared to have not been bathed since he left our care. His eye was swollen and bruised. We demanded that the caseworker take him to the ER and she refused, stating that we were overreacting. His fever had grown to 103 degrees and my husband called the police. We filed a police report and only then did DHR take him to Children's Hospital. He was admitted into the Special Care Unit and started on IV antibiotics immediately. He stayed 4 days with my husband and I by his bedside the entire time. No DHR worker stayed with him. We found out that the foster mother was made aware of the huge welps at noon by the daycare and did NOTHING. The doctors told us that had we not had the visit with him that day at 5:00, he could have died. AT DISCHARGE, DHR ALLOWED HIM TO GO BACK TO THE SAME FOSTER HOME. And we are the danger??? My boys belong at home, with me and their daddy. I miss them so much. I know they are scared, alone, and possible in a lot of pain. What is happening NOW is abuse. DHR harms more families than helps them. My story is not the first. This happens more than we can imagine. Children are torn away from good homes and families are wrongly destroyed so that the state can make money and reach their caseload quota. All we are to them is a case. These workers get to go home at night and feel no emotion, no pain, and no hurt. Our children get to feel those things, as do we. Our children are the ones being punished. PLEASE HELP US BRING OUR BOYS HOME. PLEASE HELP US BE A FAMILY LIKE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE. PLEASE HELP US MAKE SURE THAT WE CAN MAKE SURE THAT THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ANYMORE. PLEASE HELP US REFORM THE SYSTEM. WE NEED YOU DESPERATELY. IT IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO CAN SAVE THE LIVES OF THESE INNOCENT CHILDREN. THEY BELONG WITH LOVING MOMMIES AND DADDIES.

This is horrible....I am sorry you and your family are going through this. I cannot believe they have put your children danger like this...but it is the nature of the beast as we know it...CPS does not care about the children in their care...just the money they receive.

I understand what you are going through more than I'd like to admit. What has happened? Do you know if it is true that they have 70 days to decide a case. My boys were ripped away based on pure allegation, not one bit of evidence at all. They took them based on a tip from an ex friend of mine with a police officer husband. I took and passed the drug test and the home inspection went well but it has been 93 DAYS!!! Everyday I die a little bit more. I pray and cry constantly. Do you have any advice to offer? I plan to make a contribution on my next payday, that is a promise. Abuse of the system is causing mental harm to my kids everyday and I'm sure a child that really needs help has been pushed aside for no reason. This is a problem that has been going on way to long. Threats of calling child services to get revenge on someone should be considered a crime.
ReplyDeleteDHR IS A JOKE. MY GRANDSON 12 YEARS OLD HAD ENOUGH FROM HIS MOTHER PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY ABUSING HIM SO HER WENT TO THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR AND THEY REPORTED THIS TO DHR. WELL DHR CONTACTED THE MOTHER AND OF COURSE SHE MADE EVERYTHING LOOK LIKE IT WAS THE CHILD. DHR STOPPED RIGHT THERE AND DID NOT CONTACT THE DAD GRANDPARENT NOTHING. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY GRANDSON THIS MORNING AND THE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABUSE WAS THERE AGAIN. I TOLD HIM TO CONTACT THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR AND HE SAID NO THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT HIS MOM AND THAT WOULD MAKE THINGS WORST THAN EVER. WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A CHILD IN THIS POSITION?
ReplyDeleteI am the maternal step-grandfather of Melissa Mae McBryar and Mary Kay McBryar, the two young girls who were abused by their father Sherman Nathaniel McBryar. Perhaps you have heard the news about this man, he is charged with 18 counts of "torture and willful abuse of a child under 18" in Jackson County Alabama. My wife and I had only seen the oldest of the two girls twice and had never seen the younger one until the day this monster was arrested. He would not allow their mother to contact us. We recieved a call from our daughter on Aug. 12th to come get her and the children, because she wanted to leave him due to abuse. We got the local sheriff's department involved and they arrested him and got DHR involved as well. The girls were taken to Highlands Medical Center where they were checked out and treated and then released into the care of my wife and myself.
ReplyDeleteThe next morning we had to attend a custody hearing at Jackson County Juvenile Court. The children were assigned an attorney as was our daughter. The children's attorney actually spoke to us for a few minutes. The other attorney never spoke to anyone until after the decision had been made to put the children into foster care. The judge in the case did not bother to speak to any of the family members at all.
DHR is allowing our daughter to see the children one hour per week under supervised conditions. The first two weeks, my wife and I got to see them for 15 minutes each visit. Last Friday (Aug. 27), we received a letter from the DHR office that we could no longer visit the girls. No explanation except that it was in the "best interest of the children".
Today (Aug. 30), just before our daughter was supposed to leave to see the children, the case worker called and said that her visit was canceled because the children had been sick over the weekend and were going to the doctor. The visit has not been rescheduled, and the case worker has been available all day.
Seems like a lot of lies, misdirection, and sleight of hand to me. Certainly, the mother, and we as grandparents, have not received proper legal representation.
Can you believe databass1961 listed the names of minor children on the internet, There should be a law against this, it is an outrage that he would do something as stupid as posting the names of minor children. I will report this to the Jackson County Alabama DHR Office and try to find out if there is a law against it. My GOD what is this world coming to.
ReplyDeleteDHR hides behind closed doors, they do what they want and take kids from whoever they want and make alligations against you without even proving it, and the judges listen. How can that be considered JUSTICE? Maybe if more people put their names on here we could get our government to do something about the DHR MONSTER they have created. Who ever said it is right to take kids from parents or grandparents without even investigating first, extenuation circumstances like obvious bruises or doctor's reports Yes but just anybody can call and have your kids took at the snap of a finger??? I have had dealings with DHR. They are an organization that should have been shut down years ago. They dont help people. They are always in your business, and they love money, money, money. God would not want this organization at all, because He made everyone, and he knows what will happen, and if its Gods plan nothing is going to change it, especially DHR.
ReplyDeleteMy two nieces were to stay at their fathers step family's home for a week over a summer in 2008. They filed a fake petition for temporary custody. The Gardian Ad Litem was related to the step family. The two girls were split between a blind step aunt and mark the local lock smith. Time goes on, My younger sister.. the nieces aunt gets to keep them instead of them going into foster care. She is pregnant.. She has her baby, the case worker puts them in foster care with 11 kids, and a 3month old with only 2 parents.
ReplyDeleteBoth Nieces were molested by their adopted 15 year old. My oldest niece, 9 years old wanted to kill herself. DHR never even made a police report.. they hid it. Investigators are now involved.. Today the retarded bitch pick my nieces up and placed them in yet another foster care.. why? Well, a state attorney told the case worker my sister was to file a petition on Friday August the 19th. Guess what.. that's tomorrow.. I suppose she had this planned??? I REALLY NEED SOME HELP ASAP.. ReplyDeletei know how you feel. My sister ran away from home when she was 15, and went to her boyfriends house. The said we were not to trespass and filed a restraining order to keep us from getting her. When the cops came with us after having filed all the correct paperwork, she informed us that she was pregnant,therefore, the police could not touch her. We had to go through several processes in order to try to get her out of that house. She finally called a friend from school one day saying she thought she was miscarrying the baby, we managed to bring her home from the hospital, but not without a fight. Whenever she decided she was going to calm down and stay with us instead of having her boyfriend wait on her outside all hours of the night, the DHR calls came rolling in. We were abusing her, selling the baby that wasnt even born yet, had no food. The even said that not only were we doing drugs, but that we were growing a pot lab IN OUR WALLS!! after that they started playing off my sisters depressed state and said she was unfit to raise the baby, they made my mother, husband, and sister go through extensive drug testing, while they(DHR) continued to come into the house to "inspect". when we got the reports it was said that our house was unlivable and filthy. Which it was not, since i had photo proof. WHen Caleb was born the calls rolled in even faster. Hew got taken away when he was 4 months because he was not gaining weight.THE DR REFUSED TO PUT HIM ON ANY VITAMINS OR CEREAL! she said he was too young, and that if we did it ourselves that he could BE TAKEN AWAY FOR NEGLECT!! ridiculous!! Calebs father and and most of his family have been accused of CHILD MOLESTATION AND RAPE SEVERAL TIMES! so much so that the lady at the childrens center has to have a separate file cabinets for them all! DHR still placed him into their care! Calebs father has since then relied on everyone else to care for him and refuses to get a job or attempt to go back to school, while my sister has a job and is going back to school! we have not get to see caleb in almost a year! (he turned 2 in May), because instead of DHR trying to do their job and investigate properly they just go with whatever the family tells them! My sister is being made to go through extensove mental screenings before she can see him again, even though the screenings thus far have only said she has depression, but not a severe case! THe baby's father refused to even come around whenever my sister came home, and refused to come to the hospital when the baby was born because he said we had the "mafia" there!! Yet. DHR still decided to put my nephew with these people!!
